Come get creative with solar plates and ink for a two-day photographic art workshop and a bit of artistic insanity. This extensive workshop will guide you through the steps to create prints using the photogravure solar plate process. Photogravure printmaking is among the earliest, most beautiful and labor-intensive of traditional photographic processes dating back to the mid-1800’s. Polymer plates, a modern day adaptation of the early process allows the image to be etched into the plate without the use of harmful acids. During the first day, you will be working in Photoshop to adjust your images properly, print digital negatives and create solar plates. On day two you will be inking plates and using the etching press to create your one of a kind photogravures. *Basic knowledge of Photoshop is helpful, but guidance available for those not yet sophisticated with PS techniques.
